2nd Annual CAC Friends Guild Board
Holiday Coffee
The Children’s Assessment Center Friends Guild Board hosted the 2nd Annual Holiday Coffee on December 3, 2009. Stephanie Perkins, Friends Guild Board member, graciously hosted the event at her beautiful home. Attendees brought toys, gift cards and donations for the children and teens served by The CAC. Jill Buja, Development Director, thanked all for attending and for helping to make the holidays brighter for the children. She also thanked Stephanie Perkins for opening up her home for the wonderful event. Amy M. Lee, one of the Spirit of Spring Luncheon chairs, reminded everyone to save the date for the luncheon and fashion show next year on April 14, 2010 at the Omni Houston Hotel. Elaine Stolte, Executive Director, thanked all in attendance for their support and generosity during the holidays and throughout the year and also recognized the current Friends Guild Board President, Kimberly DeLape, for her service. What a wonderful way to kick-off the holiday season!

Mehrnaz S. Gill book signing at Mont Blanc
Mehrnaz S. Gill signed copies of her children’s book, “The Yellow Butterfly”, at Mont Blanc in the Galleria on November 10, 2009. Mont Blanc and Mehrnaz S. Gill generously donated a portion of the proceeds to The Children’s Assessment Center. The event was hosted by Debbie Greenbaum, Denise Hazen, Kimberly DeLape, Michelle Gonzalez and Malekeh Nezam-Mafi. Mehrnaz Gill shared with the attendees how her father was the inspiration behind the book and that she has a passion for working with organizations that help the children in our community. Kimberly DeLape thanked everyone for their support of The Children’s Assessment Center and the programs and services it offers. Thank you to Mont Blanc and Mehrnaz Gill for their contributions to The CAC!

2009 Gensler Invitational Golf Tournament
Gensler Architects generously chose The Children’s Assessment Center as the beneficiary of their 2009 Gensler Invitational Golf Tournament. The tournament took place on October 17, 2009 at Wildcat Golf Club. The day kicked off with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. and concluded with lunch and check presentation. David J. Calkins, Managing Director at Gensler Architects, presented the check to Chris DeClaire, CAC Board Member. Chris spoke about the importance of The CAC in Harris County and the level of service the center provides to children and their families. We are truly grateful for the kindness and generosity of the Gensler Architects!

Saks Fifth Avenue and The Children’s Assessment Center Friends Guild Board hosted a wonderful event benefiting The CAC on October 27, 2009. The evening was complete with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a DJ. Designer Josie Natori spoke about the value of organizations like The CAC to their communities. Elaine Stolte, Executive Director of The Children’s Assessment Center, thanked the group for their support and emphasized the importance of the programs The CAC offers and how the coordinated approach with 39 partner agencies produces the best possible experience for the child victims, promoting hope and healing. 10th Annual “Spirit of Spring” Luncheon & Celebrity Fashion Show
On April 16, 2009, the Legends Ballroom was transformed into a forest of cherry blossoms, compliments of Ben Shamooelian with Houston Flowery, in celebration of the 10th Annual “Spirit of Spring” Luncheon & Celebrity Fashion Show. With a room full of energy, celebrity and professional models strutted down the runway showing off spring’s latest trends in front of 580 energetic supporters of The Children’s Assessment Center. Extraordinary event chairs Maria Bush and Anne Carl contributed countless hours to produce this premier spring fashion event which also honored Mary Austin Moody and Kim & Dan Moody III for their outstanding loyalty and contributions to The Children’s Assessment Center and the Houston community. The event also paid tribute to the past event chairs, Ericka Bagwell, Ursaline Hamilton, Brenda Koch, Lucinda Loya and Elizabeth Petersen and was generously underwritten by Stephanie & Bill Perkins. Amazing volunteers contributing to the success of this event included Kimberly Delape, Alicia Smith, Terry Wayne Jones, Megan Sutton-Reed, Traci Lee, Jo Lynn Falgout, Bruce Padilla, Jana Phillips, Tami Pearson and Ashley Wehrly. Guest speaker Congressman Ted Poe told of his fight for victim’s rights, past & present, especially related child sexual abuse.
