THE CHILDREN’S ASSESSMENT CENTER RECEIVES $50,000 FROM the Harris County District Attorney’s Office…
Asset forfeiture funds donated to support The Children’s Assessment Center’s Capital Campaign
Houston, TX (November 13, 2013) –The Children’s Assessment Center announced today that the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has donated $50,000 in asset forfeiture funds to its capital campaign. The Children’s Assessment Center is the only advocacy center in Harris County providing services to child victims of sexual abuse.
The Children’s Assessment Center’s Capital Campaign has raised $22.04 million, to date, and needs to raise an additional $7.96 million to fulfill its goal. The Children’s Assessment Center broke ground on its expansion project during an official Groundbreaking Ceremony in 2012. This marked the beginning of a campus expansion to better advocate for all children in our community through the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse. Upon completion, Phase II of The CAC’s Capital Campaign will allow additional partner agencies to co-locate at The CAC and expand the size of the current training room in order to train and educate more first responders and the community at large on the signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse so everyone can do a better job of protecting our children.
“We are very grateful to the Harris County District Attorney’s office for their continued support and care for the children we serve. These funds will support our capital improvement campaign, but in addition, will send a message of hope and healing to our children, said Elaine Stolte, Executive Director of The Children’s Assessment Center. “Receiving $50,000 from the District Attorney’s office will provide for our ongoing efforts to prevent and treat child sexual abuse creating a safer community for all.”
The mission of The Children’s Assessment Center is to provide a professional, compassionate and coordinated approach to the treatment of sexually abused children and to serve as an advocate for all children in our community. The Children’s Assessment Center provides services to nearly 5,000 sexually abused children each year in collaboration with 45 partner agencies, including the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
“Fighting child abuse is a priority for our office. Partnering with organizations like The Children’s Assessment Center helps support the critical services that the victims of child abuse need,” said D.A. Anderson.
