The Children's Assessment Center Announces Their Participation in the Fifth Annual Golf for Greater Houston Event
HOUSTON, TX (February 14, 2012) – The Children’s Assessment Center announced their involvement in the fifth annual Golf for Greater Houston (GFGH) charity golf tournament taking place March 25 and 26 at the Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, TX. Formerly known as Golf for Fort Bend, this event is organized by employees of Fluor Corporation. This year's GFGH tournament will benefit several local non-profit organizations, including The Children’s Assessment Center: Harris County’s only advocacy center serving sexually abused children and their families.
The Children’s Assessment Center’s unique collaborative approach brings the components of assessment, prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse together in one child-friendly facility. The organization serves more than 5,000 clients every year in collaboration with 44 partner agencies such as the Houston Police Department, Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, among others. Recently named a “2011 Top Workplace” by the Houston Chronicle, The CAC specializes in a variety of therapeutic and psychological services for victims and their families including crisis intervention, mental evaluation and expressive forms of therapy designed to improve the healing process.
In the past four years, the Golf for Greater Houston tournament has raised over $340,000 for local charities. According to John Schanck, the 2012 steering committee chairman, “Fluor strives to improve the communities where we have a presence through programs provided by organizations like The Children's Assessment Center that ensure basic human needs are being met. Being an active part of the community helps us to better identify and address those needs, therefore better serving the community."
GFGH will kick off with a Sponsor Party on March 25 with entertainment and both live and silent auctions on site. Attendees will also have the opportunity to bid on celebrities and local pro golfers. The tournament begins the following morning, March 26, with a contest, raffles and awards dinner to follow. Sponsorship opportunities start at $4,000; hole sponsorships are also available.
