HOUSTON, TEXAS (November 8, 2012)-  On Friday, November  9,2012, The Children’s Assessment Center will hold a Groundbreaking Ceremony to mark the beginning of a campus expansion to better advocate for all children in our community through the prevention and treatment of sexual abuse.

The mission of The Children’s Assessment Center is toprovide a professional, compassionate and coordinated approach to the treatment of sexually abused children and to serve as an advocate for all children in our community. As a collaboration of Harris County Commissioners Court and The Children’s Assessment Center Foundation, The CAC represents a true partnership between the public and private sectors for the most effective service delivery to sexually abused children and families.

The Children’s Assessment Center provides services to nearly 5,000 sexually abused children each year in collaboration with 45 partner agencies.  Upon completion, the expanded facility will allow additional partner agencies to co-locate at The CAC and expand the size of the current training room in order to train and educate more first responders and the community at large on the signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse so we can do a better job of protecting our children.  The CAC Building Expansion Team includes:  Gensler, Irvine Team and Tellepsen.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place at 2500 Bolsover, Houston, TX 77005 on Friday, November 9th at 10:30a.m.  Father Clint Resslerof St. Rose of LimaCatholic Church will give the invocation.  Mistress of Ceremony will be Dominique Sachse and speakers include: Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and Harris County Commissioner El Franco Lee.

The Children’s Assessment’s Capital Campaign has raised $16 million and needs to raise an additional $14 million to fulfill its goal.  For information please contact, Tammy Hetmaniak at 713-986-3482 or
