2011 Houston Oilman’s Invitational Shooting Tournament (H.O.I.S.T.)

On May 13-14, 2011, The Children’s Assessment Center was honored to be a part of the 15th Annual H.O.I.S.T. Tournament. Over 420 participants joined in on the fun this year, practicing and brushing up on their skills on Friday to prepare for the tournament on Saturday. Many of the participants of the tournament come out to play year after year and are not only committed to having a great time and enjoying some friendly competition, but they are passionate about raising funds for The Children’s Assessment Center! H.O.I.S.T. presented a check to The CAC this year for $75,000, which brings the H.O.I.S.T. contributions to $720,000. We are grateful for the support of such a generous organization that truly cares about improving the lives of sexually abused children in our community, as well as helping to reduce the number of children who are victims. We are especially thankful to Joe and Lauren Byars for their dedication to the mission of The CAC for over 14 years. Congratulations to the H.O.I.S.T. Committee, Board of Directors and Sponsors on an extremely successful event!
3rd Annual CAC Friends Guild Board Holiday Coffee

The Children’s Assessment Center (The CAC) Friends Guild Board hosted the 3rd Annual Holiday Coffee on December 10, 2010. Lucinda Loya, Friends Guild Board member and generous hostess, opened up her gorgeous home for this festive occasion to gather supporters and friends of The CAC. It was a perfect December morning and guests brought toys, gift cards and donations for the children and teens served at The CAC.
Mrs. Loya provided guests with a beautiful breakfast array and everyone enjoyed visiting and helping to make the children’s holidays brighter through their toy donations. Elaine Stolte, Executive Director of The CAC, thanked everyone for attending and for their support and involvement throughout the year. She also spoke about the One with Courage Campaign, The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. statewide campaign centered around the courage it takes to talk about child sexual abuse. Mrs. Stolte explained how it takes tremendous strength for young victims to come forward to talk about the abuse they’ve suffered and it takes courage for adults to recognize the signs of abuse and report suspected abuse. The CAC is thankful for supporters such as the guests of the Holiday Coffee who help not only spread awareness, but also encourage prevention of child sexual abuse.
Kimberly DeLape and Alicia Smith, two of the Event Chairs for the Spirit of Spring Luncheon, reminded everyone to save the date of April 1, 2011 for the 12th Annual Spirit of Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Omni Hotel. This is the largest fundraising event for The CAC each year and funds raised support the direct service programs which are critical to the hope and healing of these young victims. Thank you to all of the attendees for supporting The CAC during the holidays and year-round!
4th Annual KBR Charity Golf Tournament

The Children’s Assessment Center was excited and honored to be selected as one of the charity beneficiaries of KBR’s Fourth Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament was held on September 15th at Kingwood Country Club with over 400 participants. Through generous support of the event, KBR was once again able to build on the company mission of community service and donate all proceeds raised at the event to local charities. The charities selected reflect KBR’s commitment to health, education and the environment. KBR generously awarded The Children’s Assessment Center with a check for $20,000. Thank you KBR for allowing us to join you at the tournament events and for a wonderful donation to help provide hope and healing to the children we serve!
