PRESS CONFERENCE - The Children’s Assessment Center and Community Partners Kick-Off April Child Abuse Prevention Month

April marks an important time to call special attention to the issue of child abuse

Houston, TX- On Monday, April 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM, The Children’s Assessment Center’s Executive Director Elaine Stolte will be joined by Crime Stoppers of Houston’s Executive Director Rania Mankarious, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan, Art Acevedo, Chief of Houston Police, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, and Regional Director of Child Protective Services C.J. Broussard-White at a press conference to recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and to bring much needed attention to the issues of child abuse intervention and prevention. 

During the press conference, The Children’s Assessment Center will discuss the importance of educating the community about the signs and symptoms of child abuse and will highlight its Keeping Children Safe Trainings: Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children educating communities, youth serving organizations, churches and schools to better recognize, react, act and report child sexual abuse and Internet Safety for Families Workshop that will be held free to the public on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. In addition, Crime Stoppers of Houston will announce the 10 most wanted fugitives for crimes against children in Harris County. Supporting comments will be made by Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan, HPD Chief Art Acevedo, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and C.J. Broussard-White.
